La Clínica Casa CHE, located in the heart of Fruitvale, is the pioneer of the start of the Community Health Education Services in 1980. Its history starts with the creation of the Promotoras Program, Youth Brigade, Casa en Casa and La Cooperativa all these project based of Brazilian Educator Paulo Freire’s “conscientization” movement of having people actively participate in and take responsibility for their own education, while creating positive social change in their communities.
