Building a Healthy and Revitalized Vallejo for AllVallejo is a city that is often overlooked by the philanthropic community. In addition, gentrification and high cost of housing in the Bay Area have pushed out vulnerable populations to cities that are more affordable, like Vallejo, but lack the resources to meet the rising needs of these communities.
Healthy Food, Healthy CommunityLa Clínica's mission is to improve the quality of life of the diverse communities we serve by providing culturally appropriate, high quality, and accessible health care for all. Finding a Dental Home for Special Needs PatientsThe Dental Clinic at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland has been operating under La Clínica’s management since 2003 and currently serves 5,778 patients per year. The program specializes in serving pediatric patients with special health care needs. Dental decay is the single most common chronic childhood disease — five times more common than asthma and seven times more common than hay fever. Low-income children in the service area are at higher risk for dental decay due to underutilization of preventive dental services and infrequent dental visits. As such, La Clínica’s effort to serve as patients’ dental home by providing comprehensive, one-stop services is of critical importance.
