In Memory of staff

In memory of Lupe Elizondo

Guadalupe Elizondo worked at La Clínica for more than 40 years. As a teenager, she joined La Clínica as a clerk and then as a medical assistant in Pediatrics in the original site in Fruitvale. Lupe, as she was lovingly known, went to PA school at Stanford, precepted at La Clínica, and returned to work at the La Clínica San Antonio site to serve the East Bay community she loved. Lupe was instrumental in planning and opening the new La Clínica San Antonio site in 2007. She embodied the goal of providing quality, culturally appropriate care for our community.

She was also known for her devotion to friends and family, especially her beloved daughter Alejandra. She will be missed deeply and will continue to inspire those of us who were lucky enough to know her.

In memory of Dr. Julian Davis Jr.

Dr. Julian Raymond Davis, Jr. established East Oakland Pediatrics in 1980 out of the need to bring quality medical care to the most underserved area in the state of California. In 2017, La Clínica welcomed the site as its newest location and renaming it La Clínica Julian R. Davis Pediatrics. He cared for his patients and his staff with enthusiasm and dedication for 38 years before his retirement in 2018.

He will be remembered as a brilliant, accomplished, kind and caring person. He was a loving husband, doting father, and devoted brother. “Ray”, as he was fondly known, will never be forgotten by those who loved and admired him. He was truly a one-of-a-kind human being who will always remain in our hearts.

In memory of Mary Rebecca Vega

On May 4, 2021, Mary Rebecca Vega peacefully left this Earth with devoted family by her side. Mary was 74 years old. In addition to being a beautiful person, she had a lovely spirit that made one immediately love her.

She was a “can do” kind of person, which resulted in her functioning in a variety of positions within La Clinica; and “fighting fires” wherever they erupted. Her career included being Executive Assistant to the Executive Director and in this capacity she staffed the Board of Directors. Her attention to detail, her commitment to excellence and her buoyant personality made her an excellent fit for this role. As La Clinica grew, she was promoted to Facilities Manager, which was her last role at the organization. She worked at La Clínica for nearly 25 years.

Her friends talk about her loving ways, her positive nature and her love of family and friends as a commitment first and foremost. She will be sorely missed. RIP, Mary. You will be remembered fondly and with great admiration.
